We are looking for motivated students with a strong academic performance and interest in research. Prior research experience is not necessary. After reviewing the short answer responses in the application, selected candidates will be invited for a second round interview to further assess their interest and readiness to work on a 12-week project under the mentorship of a top PhD student.

Yes, the program is open to students worldwide. However, strong English skills are necessary to effectively communicate with US-based Research Mentors.
Your broad field of study (i.e. Chemistry) will be assigned based on your interests indicated in the application short answer responses and second-round interview. From there, you'll be matched with a suitable Research Mentor and together you'll select a topic that fits your interests and skills. As the program progresses, the topic may evolve based on your learning and discussions with your Research Mentor.
We have Research Mentors across various academic disciplines - Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Humanities, Economics, and more! The fields listed are meant to be a sample. We are happy to work with students to accommodate their interests.
Research Mentors are top PhD students from renowned universities and research institutions. Each mentor is thoroughly vetted for their expertise and teaching skills, with over 5 years of tutoring or teaching experience and at least 3 semesters of teaching undergraduate lab or lecture courses in their specialty.
Yes, the program is conducted virtually, allowing students to participate from anywhere.
Students are expected to commit approximately 3-5 hours per week, including one hour for meeting with their mentor and 2-4 hours of independent work. The program runs for 12 weeks, with a total of 9 hours of one-on-one meetings, allowing flexibility for vacations, exams, or other commitments. Research Mentors are happy to accommodate scheduling conflicts.
The Winter Cohort runs from mid-January to mid-April, with an anticipated start date of January 15th. However, due to the personalized nature of our program, we offer flexibility in scheduling. Please indicate any specific requests in your application or during the interview.
Throughout the program, your Research Mentor will submit progress reports after each meeting, documenting your attendance, engagement, and participation. In the final weeks, you’ll receive both verbal and written feedback on your research paper drafts. At the end of the program, your Research Mentor will assign a final grade and write a short evaluation of your progress.
Yes, you can request a letter of recommendation from your Research Mentor. After working closely with you for 12 weeks, they will have valuable insights into your skills and research progress. However, as with any academic mentor, they are not obligated to provide a letter. They will likely consider your overall performance in the program when deciding whether to write the letter.
No reputable program can guarantee publication. The primary goal of this program is to produce a college-level research paper. However, many students have successfully published their work in high school and college science journals after completing the program.
